Project Description
The principals of Hudson McDonald began work on this project while employed by the developer. The developer then retained Hudson McDonald to perform the project management services required to complete the project. The 35-unit building is constructed on a very narrow, 7,560sf site. The project architect has compared the complex design process and exacting tolerances to the crafting of an exacting "Swiss watch." The project was developed in partnership with the land owner to provide him with a retirement asset while allowing his children to carry on the family florist business. The building has won several awards including a 2004 Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects - East Bay Chapter and a 2005 Gold Nugget Award.
The principals of Hudson McDonald were involved in all aspects of this project, including land acquisition, design development, project financing, and construction management. They were also hired by the ownership entity to complete the complex transition from construction period financing to permanent financing.
