Project Description
The principals of Hudson McDonald began work on this project while employed by the developer. The developer then retained Hudson McDonald to preform the project management services required to complete the project. The 100-unit building is one of the largest mixed-use projects ever built in Berkeley. The new building's design includes a restaurant, a movie theater, and a retail shop. Influenced by Berkeley's Art Deco tradition, the project marks the southern gateway to Downtown Berkeley. The project was recognized as a 2005 Gold Nugget winner.
The principals of Hudson McDonald were involved in all aspects of this project, including land acquisition, project financing, and construction management. They worked very closely with the architect to craft a project that many feel is one of Berkeley's finest new buildings. They were also hired by the ownership entity to complete the complex transition from construction period financing to permanent financing.
