Project Description
The Codornices Enterprise Center project (CEC) divides a long vacant 25,000 square foot warehouse into 11 smaller units ranging from 1,490 to 3,000 square feet in size. These small units are priced to be affordable to a wide range of local business and craftspeople. By creating for-sale units, the CEC will allow small business owners to own their workspaces, which will shield them from periodic changes in the real estate market brought about by regional economic forces. The project also includes the construction of four two-story, 1,330 square foot office units.
The CEC is located just a 1/2-block from the Gilman Street corridor and is positioned to capitalize on the growth of this corridor into one of Berkeley's major retail and business districts. The CEC expects to provide locations for design professionals, construction-related businesses, artists, printers, and other high-value Berkeley businesses.
